1987 Specialized Stumpjumper Vintage Mountain Bike for sale in Franklin, TN

1 of 1
Specialized introduced the Stumpjumper in 1981, the first mass-produced mountain bike. The "Stumpy" is one of the most iconic and popular mountain bikes ever produced. In the early years, the Stumpjumper was considered an affordable alternative which matched the geometry and performance of custom, purpose-built mountain bikes. The original Stumpjumper produced in Japan was based on a custom Lighthouse Cycles Chaparral mountain bike designed by Tim Neenan. The Stumpjumper is considered historically significant enough to be on display in the Smithsonian. For sale is a second generation Specialized Stumpjumper, built in the seventh year of production. With this rare bike, you will own a piece of mountain bicycling history. Everything, every part on this classic bike is original and in excellent shape. The specifications are listed below: - 17.5" frame; - Full double butted chromaly frameset; - SunTour XC-9000 Index Control shifting system with combination brake/shift lever; - Powerful Shimano Deore-XT U-Brake; - Competition geometry with 70 degree head angle, 73 degree seat angle and short 17" chainstays; - Shimano Deore-XT competition pedals with durable nylon toe clips and straps; - Specialized Hardpack tires with lightweight GX-26 modular cross section rims and Wheelsmith spokes; - Custom built look with black anodized MTB-3 stem, Specialized X-3 handle-bar and gray anodized Biopace chainrings and rims. This classic mountain bike is in exceptional condition. It has rarely been used (ridden less than 100 miles) and has always been garage-kept. $695 cash. DM me or call/text at (615) 416-XXXX.
